Case Study — Connected Hardware
The app and backend behind abiometric-authorized firearm.
LodeStar set out to build a firearm that works only for its owner. Xari designed and built the mobile app and the backend that bring it to life — and kept them in lockstep with the hardware and firmware team so the whole system works as one.

The LodeStar app — designed and built by Xari
Mobile app
The app owners carry, on iOS and Android.
Backend & cloud
The services that stand behind the app and keep it reliable.
Real-time connectivity
A dependable link between the app and the device.
The Role
We owned the software.
Xari led the software side of the product end to end — the mobile app owners carry, the backend and cloud services behind it, and the connection between the app and the firearm. We worked shoulder-to-shoulder with the hardware and firmware team so the result feels like one product, not a device with an app bolted on.
Firearm on its charging dockThe Challenge
A connected system, not just an app.
The firearm, its charging dock, the firmware, and the mobile app all have to work together — every time. Pairing had to be reliable. App behavior had to stay perfectly aligned with the hardware. And the whole experience had to stay calm and immediate in the owner's hands, in real conditions, not just on the bench.
The Work
What Xari built.
Mobile app — iOS & Android
The app owners use to set up, monitor, and manage their firearm.
Backend & cloud services
The services behind the app — accounts, devices, and everything the product needs to run reliably at scale.
Real-time device connectivity
A dependable link between the app and the firearm, tuned to stay stable in the real world.
Multi-user, multi-device
Built for households and teams: multiple users, multiple devices, one coherent experience.
App–firmware coordination
We kept app behavior aligned with the firmware team’s logic through rapid, hands-on validation cycles.
Reliability, proven in the field
Refined with real users in real conditions until the technology stays completely in the background.
The Product
Engineered to feel like one product.
The result is a connected firearm where the software disappears. Owners get reliable, immediate access when they need it — and never have to think about the technology making it happen.

The App
Everything the owner needs, in one place.
From the app owners carry, they set up the charging dock, check status and battery at a glance, enrol fingerprints, and manage who's authorized — a calm, focused experience that gets out of the way. Designed and built by Xari for iOS and Android.

On a firearm, security isn't a feature you add later. It's the first decision, and every line of code answers to it.— The Xari team
